E K damaged runway at BNE

All flights held as work goes on after they apparently did some damage. Sitting here with engines shut down on the parallel taxiway with an unspecified delay.

I believe an Emirates A380 tore up the pavement when lining up on RWY01. RWY closed for about an hour...

This is what the industry has become. Great command of flight. Park on a taxiway, fiddle thumbs, turn on phone and get on social media.

Again?!? Didn't the same thing happen last year? Diversions to OOL and other sundry places I recall.

Just wait, it won't just be from a taxiway once we get SkyNet! Sell your drama live feed to the highest bidder in real time.

I didn't get from skysooks post that they were driving or down the back, either could equally be the case.

But so what if they were driving? Should they sit there like a coiled spring reading the qrh in anticipation of the fod induced engine failure?

I would venture that many people these days would take the opportunity to look at the iPad, phone, newspaper, or whatever if they were just sitting there shut down, engines running and waiting their turn to depart is another story.

But as I said, the info they posted could have just as easily come from the captains PA. engines shut down isn't that hard to guess either.

Fuel is the answer………now what was the question?

Gin clear days here….arrivals without lots of wx related fuel. BN APP boys/girls must have been been shuffling everyone around a bit.

Was 14/32 available?

Not only was the threshold displaced, but wind was shifting back and forth.

All Runways were used in both directions at times.
Many inbounds got 3-4 STAR changes with many more ATIS changes as well.

Well done to controllers and flight crews, all seemed to be very aware of issues and understanding of same.

Looked like a used aircraft parking lot all over the field when we arrived.

Can't find my list, Don, but I'm sure 124 is... "take that, runway, and that, and that, and that!".

However, if the pavement was weak as bananas, the skipper would probably have retorted "Falcon 269"!
