Alliance aircraft sale

Alliance Airlines (QQ, Brisbane Int'l) has confirmed it has sold two of its seventeen Fokker 100 twinjets for AUD15.1 million (USD11.64 million). Of the funds raised, USD7 million will be used to ease its US Dollar debt facility with the balance to be used for general corporate activities.

The aircraft were deemed "surplus" by the carrier following fluctuations in the mining and energy sectors - its primary source of clientele.

Once the transaction is completed later next month, Alliance will operate an all-Fokker Aircraft (Woensdrecht) fleet of twenty-eight planes in total including fifteen Fokker 100s, eight Fokker 70s, and five Fokker 50s.

The carrier specializes in charter and Fly-In/Fly-Out (FIFO) operations across Australia and Papua New Guinea maintaining bases at Brisbane Int'l, Melbourne Tullamarine, Cairns, Townsville, Perth Int'l and Adelaide

wow how did they get that much for them.

Tired old birds. Thought they'd be worth not much except as parts maybe.

A few years back Skyforce sold some old Alpi Eagles F100's with smaller engines for $1 million each we heard. Maybe they were ready for scrap heap?

APACAU, in regards Alliance's operations to PNG, they often fly to Rabaul and drop of pax for the cruise liners milling around the area. I Have seen them in Moresby and Nadzab. They do lots of adhoc stuff.
A good little airline I believe.

Noticed a F50 sitting on the tarmac at Hobart last weekend. Do they do scenic air tours?

Fokkers

Yeah it's good to see Alliance being profitable, may it continue for a long time. The only question is how much longer do they stay with Fokkers, their opposition is re-equipping.
What is the likelihood of them acquiring some old 737's or A320's.

Heads in the Sand ???

I know of a very top bloke who said the same thing to management:

" We need to re-equip with say 3 potentially leased A320s types to be able to tender on some of these 5-10 yr W.A FIFO Contracts Rick, if we don't we could loose the opportunity to continue what we are successful at & miss the current market mate "

He was looked down as being to progressive / proactive: his 3 day Power Point presentation went unseen by the McMillon team

A real shame >>> A real shame for a once progressive company

Skippers

Real shame that Alliance are going to loose so many captains. Well the Middle East and ANA will embrace them. Pity management can't give them something to look forward to so that they stay.
