Just to be clear, it's no jet externals. (At this stage)
Link externals are being interviewed, but understand there is something trying to be done to provide mt cook seniority for existing pilots in eagle who can't move there until eagle is shut down. Only fair I think, but could be an employment law headache in the future if they get it wrong.

The Eagle guys and girls will be given seniority numbers at Cook/Nelson and some to the Jet, but most of those who are still there today to will remain there until next year on secondment, along with the new contract FO's.
MCA/NSN should be taking on externals later on this year I believe.

So externals for MCA and AN later in the year means they are short right? Now with little movement for the time being from eagle, could this mean movement from MCA and AN to Jet will slow and might this open the door to external jet sooner rather than later?

Air NZ announcement
Hi, speaking from within the group, rumors suggest that, with possible exception of RNZAF, the only way to the jet fleet will be through the Link fleet. This could mean a short stint in a turbo prop before into a jet, or a standard progression FO through to Captain etc then upwards. This possibly will keep pilots loyal and engaged to the group.
Saying all that, external factors could dictate otherwise

There have been a number jet interviews over the last few months, and more planned this month. There have also been Eagle and Mt Cook/Air Nelson interviews conducted this month which were for external applicants

So I've had an application if for a while, I have over 3000 hours, and 1600 multi-turbine command. I put an application in for the Props and the Jets in the last big round of hiring, and haven't heard anything at all. I failed an initial MEIR flight test, but resat with the pass. Could this be enough to drop my chances to the bottom of the pile? Or have people been getting interviews with a failed flight test?
I was tempted to email HR and just inquire, but realise it could be any number of other reasons as well...

You have to be part of the elite Air NZ family to get an interview or you will have to do a lot of Voodoo rituals and dance with skull and bones on a full moon night to get an interview....
I know several people who have failed more than ONE flight test more than ONCE and now work for cook/nelson/eagle.
Waren9, when you apply they ask if you've failed any flight tests. It would be in your best interest to tell them the truth as if you don't they will check your logbook at the time of the interview and see you have failed a test and that won't look so flash.

Any idea about numbers of externals they're looking at?
With around 3000TT and a chunk of multi pic, should have a decent chance at a turbo prop interview?
Working on the full moon dance, but not sure if I should be doing a clockwise, or anti-clockwise dance around the moa bones??

pointyengine with those hours you might be better off applying for Non Type Rated FO A330 with Air Fiji through Rishworth Aviation.
Do you know something I don't ? Hook a brother up if you do because all I can see is type rated with experience on type...
