ALAEA Notice

Wednesday, 14 July 2010 09:13
Notices - Notices 2010 The ALAEA has been advised that Qantas have announced at a toolbox meeting 12 July 2010, that they are seeking employees to participate in Crane and Dog-man training.
As you are aware, employees do not receive any payment related to operation of Cranes, Forklifts and Dog-man activities. Accordingly, the ALAEA strongly advises members’ NOT to participate in any training relating to this type of equipment/activity until further notice. Participating in training may alter your employment contract so you are required to operate Cranes, Forklifts and act as a Dog-man for free.
Do members’ want to do this for free?
Members’/employees’ that have already signed up for the above training are strongly advised by the ALAEA to withdraw their expression of interest immediately.
The Association understands that Qantas save up to $70,000 per month, by employees operating Cranes etc for free however, Forstaff are not prepared to pay an allowance to employees, such as $51.60 per week, that scaffolders’ receive, as a result of ALAEA intervention in November 2009.
$70,000 x 12 months = $840, 000 per year savings for the Company with no allowances for employees.
Members’ currently operating Cranes etc will need to remain doing so, therefore “de-bunking” any accusations by the Company of un-protected industrial action.
For further information please contact your ALAEA Councillor or Rep.

More proof of the Work for Free Attitude thats Invading Workplaces at least The ALAEA is trying to put a Stop to this .

You might as well throw CAT 4 Drivers Licences in there as well.

I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Was the Qantas request aimed at Qantas employees or FORSTAFF employees?
