The Unit That Cannot Be Mentioned

I've noticed a thread or two disappear recently. They concerned a unit that serves The Airline That Cannot Be Mentioned.

Did the thread starters get cold feet, or do we now have a Unit That Cannot Be Mentioned?

Why can't you mention Ryanair?

Having recently escaped the unmentioned unit I can sadly only echo the sentiment expressed in the deleted thread. The shop floor workforce is hard working, dedicated and professional. This is a stark contrast to the ever increasing tiers of management who couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag. Everywhere in the middle east is hiring at the moment and they all pay better than GAL. I didn't really want to leave but I couldn't afford to stay. Consider your options long and hard before putting Abu Dhabi at the top of your list. There is a reason that there have been 10+ resignations this year and likely more to come.

It is getting worse. Morale is in the abyss.

Head of Approach makes an effort but the others??? 5 levels of management above watch supervisor. FIVE!!!

Safety Group never seen in Ops. Equipment fails in tower and approach regularly. Never seen but regularly bend controllers over the table. An unjust blame game culture.

6 controllers joined earlier this year in one hit. 1 validated, 2 went on leave and never returned, 1 got fired yesterday, 2 still training and not recommended yet for CoC despite exceeding recommended training hours.

Another 7 resignations in in 6 weeks biting. The ship is sinking.

People failing APCs, no radar coming. Some Singaporeans trickling in for Tower and they have cut the ridiculous 45k AED a month salary to rumoured 40K for the new ones from Singapore.

EVERY ATC wants them to lose the contract renewal in hope the new managers make an effort to retain staff.

Facts:

1. The Salary all inclusive is 45kAED a month (40K if Singa and rumour true)
2. Rents are exorbitant
3. School allowance is 30K a year but it costs 60k to school the child with modest extra activities(get it?)
4. The equipment is nice but poorly implemented and maintained so it is NOT NICE...in fact utter crap
5. If they lifted the salary and school allowance they may avoid the coming debacle, they won't.
6. The coming airspace restructure is an unicorn head butting your ass.
7. Dubai pays more, do your research.

The controllers you work with from around the world are ace. Superb individuals treated like peasants. But they are leaving due to the management, procedures and equipment.

The word is out.

DI

cut and paste for a certain location that you just mentioned not far up the road - slightly different numbers, much more traffic, same, same.

And another 2 resignations yesterday takes the total to 29 ATCOs resigned, absconded or chopped since 2015. Seriously, will the last one to leave please turn out the light!
If you are considering a position at OMAA under the current regime and conditions then you need your bumps felt. AVOID
