Silverstone Grand Prix 2009

Just wanted to thank the controllers who set up and ran the Field on the Silverstone British Grand Prix 2009. A wonderfull occasion and a sight to behold. Well done all.

Great photos. The display by the Lynx 'Black Cats' was an extra treat to the action I saw on the track. I have never seen so many helicopters at an aerodrome at one time!! Also Silverstone provides a full ATC service, I am led to believe.

There was some rumour I heard years ago that Sliverstone is actually the busiest aerodrome in the country on Grand Prix day in terms of daily movements and that it even eclipses Heathrow! Whether this is true or not, I'm sure somebody can clarify/correct this for me.

A few years ago there were close to 2300 movements on the sunday which made it the busiest airport in the world for that day. No incidents and only a few "Stern words" lol
It is fully ATC controlled for the 3 days.

A brillient day on and above the track.

From my days as a regular attendee, it was even more "fun" when there were fixed wing movements aswell....well remember a few early morning arrivals (King Air's etc) circling overhead trying to find the field through the Silverstone mist!
