Farrell....
You have to be kidding. The training centre is a joke. I think you need to check your facts about the standard of training. I have been involved with training for many years and the training centre falls short in almost every aspect. You are an English teacher not an Air Traffic Controller and I suspect from your comments that this is the first training college you have worked in. I think you should go and have a look at any Western European, Australian or New Zealand training college and come back to this post before making any further comment.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but DGCAM's training college is not even nearly first class.

Sorry but i dont see whats the relation between Mr.Big "R" saving the days and cleaning up the T.C(where he spent his best most relaxed Dictatorship years).off course he will rebuild it all over again, thats the least he can do,its where all the business deals were cracked and free phone calls, internet, all the time you need to relax and do nothing or even right a book and think of having more babies.i talk about productivity, fairness and the destiny of alot of ATCO's never to become even that alot of people know that they are good but Mr.big "R" thinks otherwise.
note:i have great respect to Hilal, and i think that he is a walking living encyclopedia but the fact is and you know deep inside and we all know that he has no word or a saying in anything and all in the T.C

I have no comment about the training centre, as it has quite obviously changed totally since I was last there (Gonu didn't help either)

I would really like to think things could improve and for your sake I really hope they do.
Unfortunately after almost 11 years in the sandpit I have become a little more realistic as far as what to expect....and unfortunately I don't expect too much change coming your way for a while. In fact horrible to say, it may even get worse before it gets better!
I genuinely feel sorry for the gang down that way that are having to put up with equipment outages, staff shortages and infrastructure deficiencies as it used to be the ATC jewel of the Middle East but things seem to have taken a turn for the worse.
Good luck with it all, we'll always help as much as we can this side of the fence...

Nothing will improve for the Muscateers until, amongst other things, Oman installs a Eurocat or a seriously upgraded Raytheon or Hughes system with a FDP that removes the initial co-ordination of Flight Plans-by-voice and estimates-by-voice bottleneck during peak periods and that allows for full messaging exchange with the systems in UAE and Mumbai.
It won't happen until the bureaucrats in the region agree to a full exchange of system co-ordination... which won't happen.
It won't happen until the move to the new Centre in the new Terminal on the other side... which won't happen until... ?
Therefore, for the controllers in Muscat it's...

i think that most of the problem with the traffic flow is mimbai.it effects Muscat and uae and onward the rest of the west traffic,if the just get out of stone age those people in Mumbai and act a bit up to date with the ATC job life would be easier by i think 30% something like that?
can you imagine putting traffic 10nm in trail with same speed into Mumbai IFR,life sweet life
all will be a bit happier
