Just a curiosity.
What will the next B737 be called (if there will be one) after the B737-900 will there be a B737-1000?
Cheers

737-B52 I should think - if they stretch the 737 any more it'll be too long to rotate normally, so it'll need to go up ars* first like a B52!

At the risk of being wrong, I believe that the 737 is limited in Europe to 189 seats, owing to the emergency exits. The -900 has the same number of seats as the -800, just more room for them. Any more seats requires re-certification, which would not be cost-effective.

Believe it or not, but I`m told that KLM (already uses -300,-400,-800 and -900) is currently talking to Boeing about the 737-900X.
With a new type of overwing exit (bigger), that would allow more pax.
Rotating will be tricky, yes.

Seat 0A: Seriously? They would have to have more exits and bogied landing gear (moved back) and probably a new wing. You might aswell buy a 757-200.

The 737-900X would be dimensionally the same as the -900. They are proposing a range increase and 'sardine' seating to boost its capacity to 204 !
