There have been persistent rumours about FR opening a base at Luton with up to 4 732s from November.
Anyone know anything?

Extract from the noise monitoring committee at Luton:

"Of the 115 complaints registered during the quarter a total of 60 events were clearly correlated to a specific aircraft type. Of the 60 events 35% related to Ryanair hush kitted Boeing 737-200’s "

Seeing that Ryanair 737-200’s only fly out 5 times a day from Luton and yet achieve 35% of all complaints the Airport Authority will be given a hard time if they let in a small fleet of these aircraft.

Out of interest how many more years can Ryanair keep these dinosaurs in the air?

I think TBI were pushing for 3 x 738s to be based in additition to the Bergamo service which is operated by BGY based 738. MOL wants only 732s. End result - probably nothing.

So when exactly are Ryanair going to retire their 732s - I understand that one of their 21 732s is now stored, but when will the rest be put out to pasture. Why should the residents of Bedfordshire and parts of Hertfordshire have to put up with them, when all the other new Ryanair hubs are getting new 738s? Perhaps they could put some of buzz's ex-733s into LTN.

The info given to me a while back stated that a deal had been reached and that life in Whipsnade would be a bit more noisy from November. That was however, a few months ago and no update since.

Heard from a source that an announcement re ryanair operations from Luton would probably be made later this month. However, the result may not be quite the one that we were hoping for. Anyone know anything more?

What if someone bought an old army tank, painted it orange, put it in front of the LTN terminal and stuck a banner to it announcing that EZY were flying LTN-DUB six times a day for 1p(including taxes).I would imagine by the end of the day you would have lots of new Ryanair routes :E

Not going back to 6 return flights to Dublin again? Bergamo moving to Sicily or somewhere else on Italia?

MOL to buy the mighty Hatter's?

Actually no space for Ryanair as the ramp will be full of easyOrange A319's!

I'd be appreciative if they did! Maybe then we could see some compeition on the route to EDI from North London!

Please NO! 737-200's at LTN! They are noisy, polluting. We had them at LTN in the 70's 80's and 90's with Britannia. Will there be enough room at LTN with Now Airlines starting up soon?

FLYMATE Ryanair has a 200 based at Luton already for its 5xdaily to Dublin, when the runway in use is 26, it is my 07:10 alarm call!

Ryanair will soon be putting away another 732 at Prestwick as PIK are getting two more aircraft(738)1 to replace a 732 and the other to make a fourth based at Prestwick, with another 4 to come in the next 3 years.

Unlike most airports Ryanair fly to, TBI can demand payment for use of their airport, which is something that Ryanair finds hard to swallow. With precious slots available 24/7 Luton is in a league of its own for any airline now looking to base several aircraft at a London airport.

Why do indicators keep telling good ole Buster, that there will be an additional 2 Harp Boeings based locally?

Are these the same indicators that keep telling you about BMI Baby setting up a base at LTN?

Oh and MOL has told a committee at Luton that don’t like his 200 that it will be replaced next year with a nice 800.

Can I just ask you Luton Guys...what's the current state of play with "Peak"slots in LTN. I would have thought with the current level of activity that slots withing the 0600-0900 and 1600-1900 are a bit of a rare commodity. I think this will start to become the biggest obstacle to significant growth in LTN as most LoCo guys need to get their aircraft going early in the morning to get three rotations into the day.

Here in MAN, we have plenty of runways slots available now with the second runway, but running out of places to park.
