While not affecting European passport holders others may now require a transit visa if they fly through the US to other countries.

As an aside I don't think Americans understand the concept of transit travel.

Having experienced it myself earlier in the year at LAX I couldn't believe that they clear you through customs and immigration and allow you to get your bags at which point you are free to leave the airport. Then in effect an honesty policy is employed whereby you checkin for your next flight!!

How about doing what most other countries do and effectively holding you in the terminal where you are "less" of a security risk in the first place?
