View Full Version : Jerry Springer for President DSR10 12th Jul 2003, 16:56 Will Congress ever be the same if Jerry makes it to the top? Can one expect anarchy and mayhem? con-pilot 12th Jul 2003, 23:08 Oh come now, this is so stupid! I mean if Springer gets elected to the Senate the next thing you know some professional TV wrestler will run for some states governor, oops, that’s already happened. Jesse Ventura. Or some has-been singer will run for Congress, oops, that’s already happened. Sonny Bono. Or some old actor will run for President, oops, that’s already happened. Ronald Regan. Humm, welcome onboard Senator Springer. (However Jerry Springer was the Mayor of Cleveland Ohio once.) :) Knold 13th Jul 2003, 00:23 If he gets in I doubt he will stay there for long. The man i certifiable Flypuppy 13th Jul 2003, 00:27 The man i[s] certifiable Sounds like he perfectly qualified then.... ;) Anthony Carn 13th Jul 2003, 00:50 Lets face it, all it takes is lots of money and a well known face. Reagan is a classic example. Some women (and even some men) have a tendency to vote on the basis of looks alone, if conversations I've heard in the past are anything to go by. Democracy is the best we've got, I guess, but there's big flaws. Betcha Springer get's in. :( Dop 13th Jul 2003, 01:32 Well, he can't be any worse than Dubya! Maybe instead of having a war he could invite people into the studio to settle their differences on TV! Training Risky 13th Jul 2003, 01:57 Wouldn't it be amusing if Springer got to be the Speaker?! He could run the Senate like his TV show: Line up all the Democrats in their chairs, whining about their problems and how their partners don't understand them. Then let the Republicans storm into the room from backstage, waving their fists and bawling "Aaahm gonna git you, yo bit*h! Yo is ma woman see?" He could have Dubya as a special televised interview, asking him how his lack of intellect was no bar to his personal success story. Then the new Governor of California could abseil into the room, wave an Uzi around and growl "I'll be back, hasta lavista ...astholie"...... to riotous applause from the Senate and the audience at home. The Senate could be a real money-spinner for Jerry!:ok: Kwasi_Mensa 13th Jul 2003, 05:46 I’m sure Jerry would make an excellent President. The presedential press conferences will be anounced like this: "Living in a White House without wheels" "I had nothing better to do so I thought I would go to Iraq and fight" "The national deficit, discussed with Marilyn Manson, P. Diddy, 3 naked chicks and Alan Greenspan" "How to avoid looking like a complete idiot on national television." "The secret life of Condi Rice as a call girl" "I had sex with Dick Cheney’s wife and now I’m coming out" Bubbette 13th Jul 2003, 10:20 Well, he was a successful mayor. jet_noseover 13th Jul 2003, 12:33 Well, he was a successful mayor. And.. went downhill from there. What was so successful he accomplished again? Knold 14th Jul 2003, 07:52 I think Letterman should be the one if we're gonna choose from TV personalities. He's got the right amount of ambition. He won't care what people think and he'll probably have Andy Rooney dead and buried before he's lost the "-elect" appendix, which is a good thing! Bubbette 14th Jul 2003, 09:18 What was so successful he accomplished again? As if Clinton ever accomplished anything? Other than getting his wife a good job? Onan the Clumsy 14th Jul 2003, 09:53 Well, he was deputy mayor until that business with the call girl. Then he had to quit - Then he bacame Mayor, so what are the chances for his next elected office? - I'll put a tenner on it. Buster Hyman 14th Jul 2003, 10:12 I thought he was English born...in which case...he can't run for the Presidency can he??? Bubbette 14th Jul 2003, 23:24 If one is not born a US citizen (and people born abroad of US parents are generally US citizens), one can't run for President (see Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the Governor of, I think, Michigan, who are both foreign born). His bio says he was born in England of parents who were freeing the holocaust, so I think it's a good bet he was not born a US citizen. OneWorld22 15th Jul 2003, 21:19 Bubbette, I think he may be eligible to run for the presidency, Article II "No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States" No too keen on Arnie, his father was Nazi party member in Austria and Arnie was a bit of a fan of Haider, the far right Austrian leader. We had a catholic president that broke through a barrier, about time we had a Jewish president. It soesn't look like Lieberman will run for 2004 though, he's behind the others at the moment. Here's a bio on Jerry, he's actually got good political credentials, quite impressive. Born in London after his family fled the Holocaust. The family - mom Margot, dad Richard, and sister Evelyn - moved to Queens, NY in 1949 when Jerry was 5. Cincinnati Magazine voted him TV's "Best Anchor" five years in a row. Daughter Katie (born 1976) was born legally blind, deaf in one ear and without nasal passages. Has established a scholarship fund at the Keliman School (Chicago, IL) that serves inner-city youth. Holds a BA in Political Science from Tulane University (New Orleans, LA), and a JD from Northwestern University (Chicago, IL). Ran for Governor of Ohio in 1982. Spearheaded the effort to lower the voting age from 21 to 18, and testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee in support of ratification of what became the 26th Amendment to the Constitution. Vice President of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Was a Boy Scout. Was a campaign aide to Sen. Robert F. Kennedy. Was elected mayor of Cincinnati in 1977, receiving the largest plurality in history. Won a seat on Cincinnati's Council-at-Large in 1971, but resigned in 1974 after police - raiding a Fort Wright, KY massage parlor - found a check he had written to a "massuse" for her services. Coming clean at a press conference, his honesty worked, and he won back his seat in 1975. Jerry................Jerry.............! Bubbette 15th Jul 2003, 22:41 No, he's not allowed to run. He is not a natural born citizen unless he was born one, and he certainly was not around at the time the Constitution was enacted! This was put in our Constitution because they were afraid people from another country would come and take over the US. Because of the Governor from Michigan (she's Canadian) and a few others, there is a small movement to change this, but I don't think it will happen. OneWorld22 15th Jul 2003, 23:03 Bubbette, I was really looking at the +35 and 14 years residency section. Could that enable him to run? Bubbette 15th Jul 2003, 23:11 No, it doesn't work that way; you have to be a natural born citizen, unless you were one at the time the Constitution was enacted. DC Meatloaf 18th Jul 2003, 04:55 Thought this was amusing from last night: David Letterman's Top Ten List: Top Ten Jerry Springer Campaign Promises 10. "Fifty-dollar tax rebate if you have sex with your wife's sister" 9. "All staff dinners will be at D.C.-area Hooters" 8. "Sausages will attack baseball players with bats!" 7. "Repeal restrictive laws against first-cousin marriages" 6. "Amend constitution to include words 'hoochie mama'" 5. "In the summer months, all press conferences are topless" 4. "I'll tell the truth about which legislators have too much junk in the trunk" 3. "Solar powered prostitutes" 2. "C-Span will feature more young people calling each other 'bitch'" 1. "Enough cheap sex to make the Clinton years look like a church social" Bubbette 18th Jul 2003, 05:29 OneWorld , the interpretation of that rule is that it is in addition to the "natural born citizen" requirement. Here's one article mentioning it. http://slate.msn.com/id/2079204/ sirjfp 18th Jul 2003, 15:48 I just wonder if he'd make Steve Vice President ? JERRY! JERRY! JERY! JERRY! JERRY! JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!
