It says to try remove/reinstall and reboot. Renewed my antivirus subs over the internet in March- no problem. ISP says there is no prob at their end but they have had several calls on the same subject all with same Error codes. How do I reinstall Antivirus if I remove it?Thank you.

Soddit,
You can remove Norton Antivirus 2002 though Add and Remove Programs. When you remove Norton, it does not completely remove itself from your system. There are some traces left in your Registry. As long as your subscription has not expired, it is not a problem. If you continue to have the problem when you re-install Norton Antivirus 2002, you might want to install WinXP again. (Anti Virus causing computer related errors is usually the first indication that your OS needs to be re-installed)
With WinXP, you can re-install without losing any of your Data, just the files in your Windows Directory. If you have any questions on how to do that, I would be happy to help you.

I got shut of Nortons a years ago, I found it to much trouble, since then I have had no, I mean no problems by using the Firewall in XP and using etrust anti virus software, the whole thing only cost me about £15 for the year, and it updates everyday, also I like the way it runs in the back ground and doesn't keep telling you its doing it job,.
I find the XP firewall good, in fact I went on to the Symantec site and clicked on 'check your security' and it could not get through the XP Firewall.
Keep it simple!!!, thats my moto.

Thanks for the replies. It turned out to be a trojan - Bugbear-B. Resulted in some rather weird phone calls.....:)

Soddit,
Some Viruses can also disable your Antivirus program. If you ever want to make sure your system is clean you can use this free online Virus Scan. You do not need to register to use it and it is always free:
