Can't find the previous thread where this fix was mentioned but it was said to have a problem and slow the whole process down.

Does anyone know if it is now fixed? I keep getting it as a required update from MS but so far have resisted re-installing it.

As a stand-alone home PC not on any network I got the impression I was not under much threat from the security issue it was supposed to fix.

Any help appreciated.

It is entitled :"Very Slow Responce (Windows XP Home Edition)"
and it confirms that this particular update does indeed slow the system down considerably.
You may have to register(free) to enter, but well worth the effort for ANY computer woes:ok:
