Will be turning up on the Saturday, but not in anything vintage, nor even Yak - having just her back from an engine change I reckon she's better off with the other syndicate members aerobating over Northants rather than sitting on the ground all Saturday at Kemble.

So it will be an Archer III parked at the back of the spamcan zone. I should have AB manning the right-hand seat, no doubt she facilitate recognition of you and / or your aeroplane!

I will keep an eye open for the Pushpak, I've never seen one before.

The Waterford balbo will be organised on an ad hoc see you on the day basis by me ( trumpet fanfare) For saftey it will be limited to warranted safe formation pilots, (ie no dodgey flyers) who can maintain 140mph, and who don't mind the prospect of over water in zero forward viz at 50 feet above the waves. So far there are three of us, including you. Where do you intend staying in Waterford. We don't camp!:cool:

Funny we were talking about maintenance,and then you go and cause all that excitement! We were #4 at the hold when you did your swift return. Hope you got it sorted out in the end.

I have taken to leaning the mixture after engine start, and until the engine run-up. The benefits are:
1. saves fuel
2. helps the engine warm up faster
Maybe the chippie would respond to that technique?

Good to meet you (and mr and mrs Stik). Yes, it was plug fouling due the inordinate wait at the hold. We burned it off with agressive leaning and left a while later.

But - ran into very low crud near Wolverhampton and diverted into WBA. Good samaritans gave us a lift to Wolverhampton rail station, then an amazing train journey home (ask me - I'll tell you about it - you couldn't make it up!).

Tried a retreive today by 172 but solid Cu nims south of Nantwich forced a 180.

You didn't, per chance, get one of the Cub that was parked next to my Pushpak did you? The owner was exceptionally friendly and even offered to swing me upon my departure. Just thought that with the registration I could track him down at WW and drop him a thank you note!

My friend (not Mrs Stik!!!) and I arrived at 1710 on Friday evening (non-radio) after two and a half hours from Norfolk. We battled a fairly strong headwind (average of 25kts). There was an impromptu Hunter display over the field when we pitched up so just held off to the north and enjoyed from about 4 miles away.

It got quite busy mid morning on Saturday but I had other commitments and had to be back in Norflok for mid-afternoon Sat.

One hour forty on the return leg - in pretty murky condituions until we got to Bedford and it then brightened. So all the way across England and back and not a radio call required.

Good first BIG outing for the Pushpak.

Only bumped into SSD but saw G-BTCH.

Dr Spurrell has had his Vega Gull G-AFAX for sale for some time now, he is a neighbour of my god-father, so I asked how much he wanted for it. I covet that aeroplane but it was certainly well out of my price range and I'd rather have a new S2C for the same money!

Sorry to miss you. I was staying with friends on Friday night and probably got back to Kemble after you left.

Tried to depart myself on Saturday afternoon but quickly returned due to a) Brize advising that everyone who had gone in that direction so far had turned back (b cloudbase reducing to 800 ft and c) trouble with my back (big yellow streak all the way down it)

So another night with friends and a return to Popham in G-BTCH (aka "the Bitch") on Sunday morning.

Thanks to all the hard working volunteers at Kemble:ok: . No thanks to OIC Met, who had clearly failed in his duty to supply clear skies and warm sunshine. :{

I went on Sat and arrived at 1150L. The poor guy in the tower was having great trouble keeping up with all the incoming traffic. Even though it was 'full' ATC, in truth, he was not in 'control' of anyone 'aircraft on short final identify your self!' but all went ok. I just think a system simular to the PFA Rally where aircraft just call final using the last two reg letters would have worked much better.

Anyway, I only stayed for an hour and just sneaked out before they opened the aircraft area to the public - effectively grounding all parked aircraft for two hours.

I got caught in some rain showers on the way back to Eastbach and was down to less than 500ft over the forest to remain visual in places but got back OK with only a wet right knee and a slightly cleaner Cub to show for it :D

All in all - shame about the WX, but surprisingly quite a lot of interesting aircraft managed to make it and bravo to those Moth pilots operating in that gusty crosswind.

WF - forgive me but one Lockhaven Yellow J3 looks just like another to me! Don't even know the chap's name - he had a small boy with him who was perambulating around on a bicycle.

I did ask how he fitted the bike into the Cub! He told me that the monthly hangarage bill at WW was more than his mortgage!

BTUM was there though - however think that the one I am referring to may have had an alpha in the reg!

Maybe this isn't the right forum but I have a question on airmanship resulting from my visit to Kemble on Saturday. I had just signed off with Brize and I was on the leg from Northleach to Kemble and about 5 miles out catching up with a Cub which was 200 feet higher and about 15 kts slower (at a guess). Out to my right was an Auster about 1 mile away and at the same height. The problem arose when a shower moved in and obscured Kemble which had been visible till then. The reactions of the 3 pilots were all different. The Cub just pressed on and I guess he just about stayed VFR,".....in sight if the surface perhaps". I didn't fancy bumping into him so I did one of my better 360s to keep clear and gain a bit of separation. By the time I'd done that the Auster was to be seen having done a 180 and headed home. What would you have done?
By the way the young lady from the Met Office stand showed me the rainfall radar picture and suggested I leave before the airpark closed at 1230. It appears she was right on the numbers and I had a reasonable trip home

Ahhhh, they may look the same but they all have a unique character :)

The only other yellow one living at WW where I know some of the folks that fly it is in bits at the moment I think, and it's an L4, so I'll have to withdraw gracefully at this point.

Great pics, haven't got round to looking at mine yet but i hope some of them are as good as yours. We tried to capture every visiting aircraft so we have plenty to sort through.

Glad to see you got away in the end but shame about the wx stop. Sadly i didn't get an action shot of the fire engines following you back after the precautionary landing but do have one of the fire vehicle standing next to the chippy if you want it to illustrate your future bar tales about exciting flights (I was the guy with the camera who spoke to you about my own similar situation in a chippy at Aerofair last year when I had to abort the take off because of rough running).

I have been charged with getting pics of most of the visiting aircraft up onto a web site but haven't started yet. Hope to get going on the task tomorrow but will shortly run into a full weeken at Aerofair again. There just aren't enough hours in the day. Anyone feel like helping edit, renaming, and uploading pics?
