From what i've heard, Air Scotland are divorcing themselves from Electra Airlines (?)


Be aware, this airline only has 2 aircraft at the moment. Any technical or other problems could see you faced with long delays, probably a bit like the now defunked Transjet, or Air Scandic!

Erm, Air Scandic is very much still flying at Newcastle this summer, and last summer their on-time performance was pretty good.

You get what you pay for really.

An impounded jet at the centre of a crisis facing budget airline Air-Scotland has been released.

The Boeing 757-200 painted in Air-Scotland livery flew out of Glasgow Airport yesterday after its owners, Greek airline Electra, settled a hefty bill to airport owners BAA.

The aircraft is thought to have left for Brussels.

Air-Scotland, which has no planes of its own, tore up an agreement with Electra last week, citing its "unacceptable service".

It is now taking passengers to Spain on a reduced timetable using Air Holland.

But the company is still describing itself as a ticket provider for Electra on its website, where it makes many of its sales.

A second Electra 757, also painted in Air-Scotland livery, is still impounded at Edinburgh Airport.

Aviation watchdog CAA has put a charge on the plane after Electra failed to pay European air traffic controllers.

The aircraft is also thought to require heavy maintenance.

The quicker they get their own UK AOC or at least use a UK operator to operate their services then their image will improve. Getting into bed with Electra was a bad move and I am glad that they are trying to end the relationship. An Air Scotland ran by Electra was a mistake from day one. It was ashame that the management could not see this and could only see how cheap it was probably going to be to get Electra to operate the services. The old saying 'You get what you pay for' applies to the fact that Air Scotland probably got a cheap lease deal from Electra. Sadly the punters did not get what they paid for by the looks of things.
