Hi all,

Been a while since I was in here.
Back in '99 when I was a mere spring chicken (well 33) I was to be made redundant
and I prepared all my plans for a new career as a pilot. The redundancy fell through
with all my plans.
Wouldn't you know it I have just been asked if I would consider leaving on a 'reasonable'
Package.
I'm now touching 36, out of the loop and the only source of information I have is the
media which would suggest there has never been a worse time for me to take this up
again. (Kept the class 1 current)
How bad are things in reality?

Thanks

TT

I started my training in 1988 and when I finished the gulf war was starting up.It took me 5 years to find a job and this is when only 300 pilots where unemployed around the time Air Europe folded.Theses days things are much more serious`and although I would recomend you continue with your training, be prepared for a long wait unless your extremely lucky.

Look back for threads in the week following Sep 11th - many by me. They summarised anwers - or speculation at least - as to your quesion here.

In summary - I would defer the expensive training commitment for a year.
