JAA schools in SA?

Anyone know any JAA approved schools in SA? apart from FTC. Any in Capetown or on coast? If you do or have been there are they good? Any do you have there website address....

As Far as I'm aware there are no others, that is why FTC don't care as much as they should.

Check with the CAA at Gatwick, they have a publication showing all the CAA JAR approved schools doing different levels of training, may be on their website. Using these schools you will receive a UK CAA JAR licence. FTC are there.

If you want to do just a PPL, you could do an SA PPL & then convert if you want, there is a group, mentioned in the Africa forum, of SA PPLs flying in the UK.
If you want to just hour build, you could go to any school & get an SA validation, you even need this through FTC to fly in RSA.
If you want to do commercial training I'm afraid FTC is the only option, sad but true at present.
However I heard at Gatwick today that 43 are going for approval, hope so as they have a very good rep.

FTC is supposed to be the only JAA school in SA but have heard mixed reports -but you're going to Algoa right? Converting to JAR back in Ireland is painless enough, better still if you have +100 hrs only 2 exams need to be done.

I had heard the same rumour about 43. They apparently have already been visited by the CAA. From what i hear they are an excellent school. However book quickly as they have waiting a large waiting list and unlike other schools know when to say no to more pupils.
As mentioned before you could go there anyway to do SA PPL. Once you build up 100 hours you sit 2 exams here and get a JAA PPL. 43 do a structured hour building course too. Other schools don't have enough planes for this.

Another option to look at is Progress Flight Academy, also in Port Elizabeth, but operating from a private field.

I`ve Just returned from SA, decided to do a 150 hours building package that 43 have designed for students wanting to do JAA,

Can`t speak highly enough about 43 really, they have some great instructors out there who have really brought my flying up to a very high standard.
