During your training at around CPL level would you need another job or is the training full time ? Bit of a stupid question but i'd though i'd ask.

Hi,

There are several ways to gaining your Commercial License.

There is the Integrated course (Ab-Initio) which is a full time course and lasts approx a year. However, you can do a distance learning course which you could do from home.

You may find this site of help:

This page is a little out of date but it gives you an idea of training options:

If you are talking about the CPL, then this will involve 25 hours flying training + approx 1 1/2 hours for the skill test. (Unless you take the skill test in a twin, in which case you will do 28 hours including 8 hours multi time)
This is the same if you go integrated or modular. If you decide on modular, then you can do it part time, but it will be difficult for you to stay on top, with breaks between the flying - not recommended. Full time you should allow 3 weeks.

I would really suggest you visit the Flight Training Show on the 12th April. See elsewhere for details.
