hi. .airframes is known as Aircraft General Knowledge (AGK), which is a combo of electrics, systems and engines . .and the only real easy exams are IFR and VFR comms , . .everything else requires plenty of work , good notes , great instructors , handy tips and the luck of the irish . . . . [ 20 March 2002, 15:22: Message edited by: signeti ]

Mass and balance...obviously know the short formula for working out the weights.Study up on how to shift C of G around. There were 35 marks at the end of exam solely on this.. .Flt planning is relatively straight forward.. .Navigation seemed OK just practice on the whirley wheel a lot.. .Met is a real bastard as is princ.of flt.. .Human factors is good on feedback papers as is IFR/VFR comms.. .Instruments is very difficult, seemed to have a lot of questions on electrics.. .Rad nav is interesting so plenty of study there and Air law and ops proc. u just need to read the books which should bore u ****less.

Mike: the best preparation you can do is to buy yourself a 0.5mm propelling pencil. Not a 0.7mm but a 0.5mm.. .. .You will use this more than anything else and it will serve you well, if you get a good one.. .. .Here's a hot tip: don't use pens wherever possible on charts/diagrams/sectionals/datasheet, just use your 0.5mm propelling pencil. Rub out all your lines straight afterwards. There's nothing worse (or more confusing) than trying to use a datasheet with marks all over it.

Just so you can get a concensus of general opinion Mike, out of the ones I've done (module 1), Instruments definitely the toughest as most people I was with found. . .. .Met pretty tough too, not too much climatology on the actual exam though. Nav not as bad as I'd been led to believe, the plotting element is now pretty straightforward to what it used to be like apparently. Know the whizz-wheel pretty well.. .. .Comms papers were fine, HPL ok, M&B ok too, as said above know the formulae and the definitions (AUM, UL, DOM, ZFM etc etc. don't worry, you'll know em when you see em, quite a few questions on those).. .. .FP, get familiar with the Jepp manual, should be ok.. .. .Good luck.
