I have a PPL at the moment and don't do as much aviating as I would like cos of lack of funds.
My medical is due with the good old electo plug me in thing!!!!
If I where to be a total cheap skate and convert to NPPL would that make medicals cheaper, and what would be involved in the issue of a new NPPL?????
I only fly for fun in daylight with as near cavok as I can get:O

See Irv Lee's web site FAQ's on the PPL and NPPL. He answers that very question. I think the bottom line (financially) is that you will have to pay a one-off fee for the issue of a new licence. But I'm with you on the dilemma (£160 every 2yrs - ouch). URL below:

I used to have a link to the medical requirements for the NPPL but can not find it so quickly. :}
Anyway dont be fooled in thinking that all GPs are happy just to sign on the dotted line for a couple of tenners.
In todays busy and 'red tape' world quite a few have got cheesed off with signing forms for just about everything.
The form requires the same effort as one for an HGV medical.
Some GPs will therefore charge the same. That currently is max. £92-50.
