We have been kindly offered a visit to the tower at Luton
Again, like last time, the number will be 6. The date will be arranged very soon. It should be on a Friday or a Saturday in March.

Har-de-har. Everyone send drauk your details and he can then put them into a nice word file for me when he is done and I can then choose a last min replacement.... ;) Now, where did I put that name tag with drauk on it to go into the hat, am sure it was here somewhere........ :p
What I will do though is 'draw' who is going next Friday 28th Feb. A date can then be sorted out for sometime in march. :)

Failing that, can a visit to Sheffield City tower be arranged to see the lack of action there in action? (It's only 30 mins walk/crawl from my house. Up hill, down dale and all that....)

I'm glad to be able to offer another visit to Luton Tower but to avoid any disappointment, can I make it clear we are just a tower operation these days since the Approach Radar moved to TC at West Drayton. We do have a couple of radars you'll be able to look at but you won't be meeting the people on the end of 129.55. ;)

Some good news. Young Steve has said we can do two visits in March. That means 12 names will be pulled out of the hat this coming Friday.
The dates suggested are Sat 29th March afternoon or evening and Sat 22 March again, afternoon or evening.
I might be able to come and meet some of you afterwards for a pint if someone wants to have a drink in the Luton area. :) (but don't let that put you off applying....)

Koli - was it a pair of knee-length knickers with support panels?
The meeting point will be outside Luton Airport Parkway Train Station. There is ample room there for a meeting and see who needs lifts etc. As you approach the station building there are a few telephone boxes just to the left(to the right if you arrive by train). Opposite them are plenty of car parking spaces. Best to meet there about 15mins before meeting with Steve. The tower is only 5 mins away if that. Just follow the road around towards the terminal and you will see on the left some gates. Pull up outside them and wait for Steve. He will open the gates and let you in giving you a car park pass to display in your car. Have a good time. :)

Just saw this. I live in sunny Luton and occassionally fly out of there. "Jemstone blah blah blah...."
I'd love to pop up and see the ATCO's at Luton.
Vintage ATCO, any chance? Got a licence/security pass for Luton/passport x2.
On another note, any one know the cheeky ATCO in Cov Tower that tries to impersonate my accent? He's a laugh. :D

So it looks like 2:40 at Luton Airport Parkway Sta then - assuming that the visit is still at 3:00.
BRL - is 3:00 correct ??

Yes 1500 is the meeting time at the tower for both visits. I would advise you all to meet at the train station first as there is not much room to wait around by the gates for the tower. Some people are arriving by train so could do with a lift around the corner.
Reddo, If you get no joy with Steve then you can go if someone drops out but I am sure Steve will be able to help you sort out a visit.
Reddo Someone has dropped out for the 22nd visit so a place is your's if you want to go on that one?

Big, big thank you to BRL for organising the visit and Steve/vinatge ATCO for showing us round. It was great to see you guys in action. Absolutely fascinating to watch all the little asterisks manoeuvering around Luton. Any Prpruners out flying today - we were watching!
To those going next weekend - you're going to love it.
Again a reminder to those going today, please take your photo ID. The meeting details are the same as last weeks one found above. Enjoy.... :)
