View Full Version : No job too big for Her Majesty's finest
SpinSpinSugar 6th Feb 2003, 13:20 From the BBC.
'If there is conflict, the RAF can be expected to play a significant part in the opening phase of the campaign.
A key role would be helping to deliver what Pentagon officials describe as an "extremely big bang". '
Imagine the consequences. The boys in blue unwittingly create a whole new universe in the skies over Baghdad. Well, I suppose that's one way to divert attention. I wonder what the delivery mechanism will be?
Biggles Flies Undone 6th Feb 2003, 13:55 SSS - is it just me or do you irritate the hell out of loads of other people on PPRuNe with this type of posting?
You don't need to read between the lines on something like this - we've already been told that America is planning a massive (conventional) bombardment if the war commences.
What are you trying to achieve other than smart-arse status, as with some of your previous posts about ops you have no real knowledge of?
SpinSpinSugar 6th Feb 2003, 14:06 Is it just me, BFU, or did you get out of the wrong side of bed this morning?
Blimey.
I apologise for wasting your valuable time!
Biggles Flies Undone 6th Feb 2003, 14:12 No I didn't get out of bed the wrong side. You came up with something similar about spec ops which appeared on the Beeb. In my opinion these things are best left to the professionals.
SpinSpinSugar 6th Feb 2003, 14:52 Sorry, I may be getting old and senile but I have no idea what you're talking about re: spec ops. If it was me, was it some time ago? As you seem have been bearing a grudge I'm sure you could probably remind me. And I am still somewhat bemused by the offence you seem to have taken at this thread. Can't say I've ever been flamed before, but perhaps I've had it coming for a while.
The point of this thread had nothing to do with the actual story, it wasn't a comment on the operation, politics, or anything to do with the war, as you seem to suggest. It was merely a flippant comment on the wording used in the article. Which I mistakenly thought was mildly amusing. Clearly, I have misconstrued what this forum is for.

That's about the only time anyone other than Cpt Ed has ever seriously irritated me on this forum. Probably something that simply bugs me alone and, no, I don't bear a grudge.
Firestorm 6th Feb 2003, 15:12 SSS, I get the humour :)
BFU: lighten up!
Biggles Flies Undone 6th Feb 2003, 15:22 OK OK OK!! My very last words on the subject, and I promise to de-stress immediately ;) :
Make the same post in the Mil forum and see what happens.
You want it when? 6th Feb 2003, 16:05 Sorry chaps/chapesses I thought it was funny too. It is so nice of those Americans to explain things in simple terms...
"A big bang"
Well that's OK then.
ratsarrse 6th Feb 2003, 19:59 Make the same post in the Mil forum and see what happens
BFU, if SSS had posted this in the Mil forum I think you would be fully justified in your righteous indignation. However, this is Jet Blast after all and a bit of mild humour is surely acceptable?
tony draper 6th Feb 2003, 20:29 Post the weather forcast on the mil forum an yer get yer ars-e chewed.
greatorex 6th Feb 2003, 20:46 As an ex-mil driver - I thought it was funny. It'll be US Defense (sic) Dept press releases in the style of Dr Seuss next. In fact, Drapes, given the recent poetry thread you could do one of them for us now, mate. . . . . :D ;) :D ;)
SpinSpinSugar 6th Feb 2003, 21:05 Phew, for a minute there I was beginning to wonder if I was completely out of touch with the common man. I don't think anyone in the Mil forum would have any problem with the post at the head of this thread, they're a good natured bunch and the actual subject matter was not of relevance, just the exemplary use of the phrase "big bang" and it's astrophysical connections. Ahem.
Still, I guess if I only offend someone once every six months I'm doing Ok, in the grand scheme of things.
I'll dig me tin hat out the closet next time though.
