Hi all.. .. .Some of you might remember me from a while back, when applying to BA and the such for that ever ellusive sponsorship. Alas, an all too familiar 'I was soooo close....' . .. .So I have decided to forget about an airline job, and have just been successful in getting a cadetship through NATS to become a controller. That is a reasonably secure job for the moment. I simply cannot, and would not want to see myself worried about job security at any stage of my life, but it is a fact of life these days, but so evidently is the world of pilots. . .. .I am no longer a wannabie pilot, but I certainly shall continue my pursuit of a PPL in due course, simply for pleasure. Aviation is, and I think always will be, a pasiion of mine, but not now commercial flying. For me the reality of it all is too grim. . .. .Yes things will pick up in the very near future, and I wish all wannabies thr very best of luck and success in the future.....there will now be one less in the application process to contend with . .. .All the best everyone!. .. .And by the way, good luck to all who happen to inadvertantly fly into my piece of airspace:) . .. .LORI

Don't knock the flying on the head yet.. .. .ATCO's get payed very well, and there holidays etc are pretty good. I would hour build and go modular. If you were young enough for BA cadetship you have plenty years left in you for a career change.. .. .MJ

Totally agree with Mad_Jock,. .. .Keep hour building with the money you earn, think at least about a change in career mid-life but most of all you must keep your dream alive. Believe me it's not over yet by a long way.
