Heard a SAA flight to Hong Kong had to dump fuel and return to JNB after problems with the gear or something.

Anyone got more details ??

KCW,

Travelling along Pomona road, saw it (747-200) getting airborne out of JNB at about 1730 local. Thought the crew was slow with the gear. It turned out right at about 1500' AGL heading towards WIV. Lost sight of it due to cloud at (I guess) about 10NM and at that time the gear was still down and there was no climb rate to brag about.

That's all I have. Cheers for now.

Correct KCW and Bakela's visual sight.

The gear lever stuck in the down position and just could not be lifted. Aircraft presently on the rigs
