If I obtain a JAA PPL at 48 how often will I need to have a medical to stay legal and how much should it cost?

At 48 you will need a class 2 renewel in 2 years BUT when you get to 50 it becomes an annual event im afraid. if I remember rightly, a class 2 costs about 140 quid.

The 140 quid should cover the ECG and the fee to the CAA for looking to see if a heart attack is imminent!

Ah, but I thought that being presented with a bill for 140 quid, was part of the medical test. :(
If that does not give you an immediate heart attack, then you are probably OK to fly for the next 12 months! :D

I have just had my class 2 renewal (1st over 40) with ECG done for £125.
Apparently I am still alive. :D
My initial cost £110 2 years ago.
