just started ppl , just another wannabe looking at cpl hoping to go cargo eventually, one thing i was wondering, can someone explain "perf A" pls <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

You'll be doing training for the JAR licence.

Perf A disappeared with the CAA licences.

You don't need to know about it.

only reason i asked was this job descr for BE 1st Officers on their website -. .First Officers ATPL (Frozen), Perf 'A', CAA 509:300 hours total, MCC, minimum 1000 hours.. . <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Perf A is/was performance planning for jets e.g.: take off figures, obstacle clearance distances and same if one engine fails, calculating V1 speeds, brake cooling and lots of other mind bending stuff. Perf A was based on figures for a Tristar (I think) but was just an intro into jet performance.

CAP 509 is a thing of the past, it has been replaced by the JAA Integrated ACPL/IR/ATPL Courses.. .Performance A, B and C is covered in the JAA Performance examinations and again on a Type Rating Course where you are tested on the performance characteristics of the actual aeroplane you are going to fly rather than a mythical one in a stand alone Performance exam.

Remember, recruitment adverts are written by administrators who may be a few years behind the drag curve.

Yeah - like the classic office Doris who told a enquirer with an ATPL, that as he did not have a Frozen ATPL, he did not meet their minimum requirements.... :)
