Hi

There are what looks like strategically placed pieces of chewing gum or engineering equivalent all over my new NG wheel well bay? Like 1cm strips of green gum.

Obviously there for a reason but what are they really for?

Are you talking about Torque Seal Paste - Boeing put it across hydraulic unions and other fittings to check they dont come loose.

Cross Check™ Torque Seal® Tamper-Proof Indicator Paste (http://www.durablesupply.com/dytaprtoma.html#.Wav_C0L7beQ)

Or the white paint on old locomotives wheels either......

That's a Quality Assurance (QA) seal.
Basically the inspector verifies the joint has been properly torqued, then puts his(her) mark on it as an inspection verification.
Also makes it pretty obvious if someone has messed with it.

What flavor is it?

Think Tdracer may have it.

Thank you

More to the point - does this chewing gum lose its flavour on the bedpost overnight?
