Good evening,

For the last 9 years I've been the holder of an FAA CPL that I converted from my JAA CPL. I've never used it and I upgraded my JAA CPL to an ATPL (A) and would like to upgrade/unfreeze my FAA one to. I've emailed several schools but all I get is full courses with a minimum 15.000$ price tag, probably because they're responding as if it's a full conversion, which I don't believe it is, it is merely an upgrade of my CPL.

I'm 737 and 777 rated (non FAA) so I could do the unfreezing on one of those as well however I'm pretty much looking for the cheapest and quickest gig.

Perhaps some of you can help me with the process.

Thanks :8

In the old days it was pretty easy you just had to do the written and practical test, but since 2014 they've changed the rules. Now in order to take the ATP multi written test you have to do an ATP-CTP which is kind of like an MCC, and the really annoying thing is there is no exemption even if you're already type rated. I think they cost $5-6000. After that you can study for a week and take the ATP written. You can take the check ride in anything from a duchess to a 777.
