I see the health insurance premiums are rising by 9-10%. Can we expect a comparable rise in salary, I doubt it.....

When you price your own insurance it works out cheaper in certain circumstances, this on the back of that your as likely as not to have your claim denied and lucky to get an appointment at the clinic in the first place:ugh::ugh:

This is on top of the 10% premium increase just a few months ago.

Perhaps more concerning than the money for you guys should be the reason why the health insurance premiums are rising? The EK 'healthy lifestyle' producing yet more claims?

Can you claim for the lube or is it considered "over the counter"?

Of course you can claim, but as all things with the Meidcal Bunfights dept, it will be denied due to a pre-existing ar*ehole condition

Not quite.

It is a case of a medical system that is completely false. Whenever an EK patient is sent outside of the EK clinic a host of completely irrelevant tests are completed and charged by the 'specialist' (inverted commas because many wouldn't hold jobs in their own country.) The moment they see an Emirates Health card they see a massive income stream that they know will be paid by EK. Subsequently EK starts having to pay huge bills for EK staff health coverage, and consequently raises the premium to staff.

Case in point, I recently had to visit a specialist. When I arrived the nurse told me to come through for X-rays, despite me having handed in the X-rays from the EK Dr when I arrived. I refused and said if you try and X-ray me again I will be walking out the door. When I went to sign the bill, they tried to include a charge for X-rays that they didn't take.

It is a case of the Dubai 'job creation' policy backfiring massively, and is costing EK millions in bs healthcare.

Health care here is a business, pure and simple.

Its all about getting you in to the system and referring you down the rabbit hole, my friend who has only been working here not even 3 months. Has cancelled her contract as a doctor with a well known health care provider, and is looking to return back to her home country. She was disgusted with the health care system, there is no 'want' to provide primary health care, it's all in the referral's. She routinely checks what other Dr's have prescribed patients, and is baffled too often at wrong dosages and medicines.

Quite worrying really!

I fly home for all my medical treatments and I aviod going to a doctor here. I don't trust the healthcare system here. The other day I fell sick, bit luckly I found a German doctor here. Only guy I trust.
