I'd even fancy going 1v1 in a Jaguar with this bad boy!

Sorry LJ. An F3 mate would struggle to even get airborne in a Jaguar. Far too complex.

I know what you're thinking. A witty reposte centred around a Jaguar struggling to get airborne full stop. Am I right or am I right?!

That particular example was declared "P" state at morning prayers.

Cynic that I am, I somehow doubt its 'jetness'.

That fixed step for access into the cockpit is pure genius but it could compromise stealth.

Love the convenient grab handle on the wing root too !

"Too close for missiles Goose, switching to guns"

Sorry, could'nt resist ;)

They'd have done better to redirect the local flying school.

Has there ever been any study upon the potential military application of a C152?

Serious question.

If I recall correctly, the Tamil Tigers used a Cessna in a remotely-controlled attack against a Sri lankan barracks about 15 years ago.

The Cessna Bird Dog was a derivative of the Cessna 170 which carried weapons for light support, liaison and forward air contolling:

Almost. The Tamil Tigers formed a branch called the Air Tigers that flew a pair of (manned) Zlins, and ran rings around the Sri Lankan air force for quite a few years. In the end, when the war was lost they went out in a blaze of glory (literally) with suicide/kamikaze attacks on Colombo.

There was also the French deisgned Morane Saulnier MS880B, SOCATA Rallye or PZL Koliber that could carry weapons:

Today the South African built Mwari is probably the closest to this idea as a light support COIN and ISTAR single engined prop aircraft:

Let's not forget that in 1940 any German invasion could have seen the RAF bombing the beaches with Tiger Moths.

Daesh would never have got it flying as the plans were incomplete and only had a set for the left wing.

*OK, its not Caption Comp but it could be.

I just find the Rallye armed as somewhat bizarre, but then so was the Piston Provost

I vaguely remember a group who put together a version of the Cosmic Wind f1 racer with armaments for a COIN role - didn't they call it something like "Pirana"?

Judging by the usual state of Daesh machinery, the aircraft looks to be almost operational.

Right here PDR1 and correct on the details. Armament 500 pound bomb on the belly and a pod on each wing tip carrying four Zuni rockets. Still flying with a private owner.

Another contender, the Fletcher FD-25 "Defender".

If it is a "jet fighter" which like others I seriously doubt, I wonder at what speed the fabric on the rear fuselage would detach. It actually looks quite familiar but I cannot quite ID it. Any ideas. That triangular window must be a clue.
