So why are they saying "Central African Republic"? Surely "West Africa" or "Ghana" would be more appropriate - particularly as the CAR is landlocked!

Because, as usual this is from a contractor company, so then they don't want to loose their money if somebody apply direct to Inaer Italy, wich is now Babcock.

The fact that the company does not know where the contract is located should give you some idea of their competence. Although if you don't have the minimum qualifications (AW139) then do not expect a reply. Even INAER are not that desperate.

Unless they are still employing un-rated co-pilots of course. This practice was justified to me as "well the contract only specifies 2 pilots. It does not mean that they both have to be type rated" Little wonder that they keep winning contracts from companies with responsible (and expensive) business ethics and practices.

As a pilot who was made redundant any information is greatly appreciated, at least this points you in the right direction.

Negative comments can be helpful but I would suggest that all can use google translate and it should not stop anyone from replying to an advert which is in English on the website.

Finally the email does bounce but I am sure that can be mentioned when you apply.

This last sentence should not be the norm in this small industry. It takes only 3 minutes to send a "sorry, but not this time" reply to someone who is asking to be a part of the team. No matter who he is, it only takes 3 minutes.

Just my opinion, not a dig at anyone in particular.

Agreed Tam. I know many well qualified applicants at the moment who apply for advertised vacancies and meet all requirements yet get no reply. Very demoralising as they have no idea why they are not considered.

It's a form of HR arrogance. Only too typical of the standard laziness and also of the recruitment company wasters.

Affirm. I actually called Babcock after those two weeks knowing I met all the criteria. Politely asked the phone operator to put me through to [...], because I was wondering about my application. I was asked to hold and when she got back on the phone she forwarded [...] message: "If you have not heard within those two weeks you are not considered".
Still feel so sorry for [...] busy schedule not being able to talk or even email from one professional to another.

Right. Babcock...
Was held at the reception. [...] apparently in 'a meeting'. Was 'allowed' to leave my application with the receptionist.

Sadly, it's a fine line you tread when applying for a job in this industry. It seems to me that a few organisations are simply collecting CVs and that real jobs are few and far between at this time. Whilst treading that fine line, it is very easy to step onto the wrong side and become a bit too pushy. That has a tendency to put people off a candidate, no matter how well qualified he/she is. Again, a 3 minute response at the outset would solve that, it removes doubt and it removes the candidate's anticipation.

I think it is fair to say that "who you know" is as important as ever, and that's ok. Getting that application for a real job in front of the right person is the task. Unfortunately, in the larger operations, HR has their task to do too, and that is to vet the applications for the main man or woman.

But even HR departments could spend 3 minutes per applicant to let them know they won't be invited to the party.

Big companies have huge amounts of applications to plough through, especially at a time when jovs are scarce. Do you really expect the Chief Pilot, etc. to talk to every single person who applies and explain why they weren't successful? Because if he/she does it to you, they'll then have to do it for everyone else and that will never end!

It isn't just the way with big companies either; it's pretty standard for recruitment as a whole, unfortunately. I've been on the receiving end of it myself.

Might be so, but that's where database management and common courtesy comes in.

Most companies don't even send you an automated reply to say thank you for your application.

personally I think HR is short for cant be arsed and its ok to be rude to people.

I would like to think that the standards in how we treat each other are different than those at the local argos ( I seem to recall that they actually do bother returning to applicants with a reply. )
