The Aeronavale (on an even tighter budget than the MOD) managed to get these splendid shots of Alex Thomson passing the Kerguelen islands a week or so ago, waiving the Union Jack and getting prime time coverage on French TV and (apparently) around 120 million views on various internet video outlets.

A bit disappointed the MOD budget didn't stretch to the same when he passed the Falklands two days ago..
