What on earth were they going to do with 380s anyway?

Probably Tehran - Stockholm.
The Swedes are ecstatic to wellcome every financial emigrant from MEA.

if you got nothing constructive to add, perhaps itīs better to say nothing at all!

That's the question. Does anybody believe that Iran will be a real competitor for the ME 3?

Not in the running unless they can serve alcohol. Might be a option for the adventurous if the ticket prices are cheap enough.

It's probably significant that the 747-8i disappeared from Iran's Boeing order - and likely for the same reason - they don't fit a realistic business model for Iran.
As much as I want to see the 747-8i be successful, I honestly don't see a long term future for either the 747 or the A380 as passenger aircraft - they just don't offer enough over the big twins to justify the extra expense of four engines.
The redeeming grace for Boeing is the 747-8F

Do they plan to invest any money at all into ATC radios?

Better ATC radios than India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Philippines, Somalia, Sudan, Nigeria, Sao Tome, Brazil, Paraguay, Gaborone.........Any more you want?

I wonder if the Donald will cancel Boeing's order. He seems very vocal about Iran and Boeing lately.

Just remeber, when the Gulf carriers decided to circumnavigate Iraq, Iran handled all the traffic within a month and without any disruption.
If that would have been Europe, we would have had major slot delays....
Credit where credit is due...

I wouldn't say "redeeming"...

More a graceful degradation without too hoo hah to upset the shareholders

How did Airbus manage to get that turned out so quick? They must have had a whitetail which made a quick trip to the paintshop...

Airbus has to push it before D Duck gets in and vetoes Airbus sales to Iran due to American components in the 321
