Appears to be a Main Transmission failure based upon Witness accounts....loud bang heard and Rotors appeared to stop.

At this time not much is known about what type of aircraft it was or who the operator might be.

A common thread in the witness reports suggests a catastrophic failure at altitude with no mention of a wire strike.

Still no information about type, operator, or correct number of occupants.

It was, I'm sad to say, an FH1100. Not much else is known as this time.
