Howzit guys,

I've heard quite a bit about the so called Balmoral Charter company out of Virginia. I cant seem to find any web sites or ads that they run though. Does anyone reading these forums actually fly for them and what type of crafts do they operate?

What type of qualifications do they look for when they employ guys and what can one expect when getting on with them?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I can help with this one ! :p

Quote from Stuart Low: "Balmoral operates King Air 200's, 1900's Cessna Grand Caravans. We have been around for 10 years with operations worldwide. We also operate helicopters worldwide supplying support to harbours in the specialized service to marine (ship) pilots.

Generally I believe that we have a very close knit group of guys working for us. I do not have a large staff turnover so that must show that we are doing something right! We will employ guys with comm. and IF ratings and that is all up to guys with plenty of experience. We do not as a rule promote anyone if we have someone who has come up the ranks and deserves first hit at the position. That is essentially it.

As a group, we fly in excess of 22,000 hours per year.

Contact can be made through the contracts manager who is Steve Muller. He is in the Durban office and has an email: [email protected]" Unquote ...

Mr Stuart Low
Director Balmoral

It's a pleasure ... :D

Mr. Low,

Thank you for your reply. Never did I expect to get an answer from the director of Balmoral! I have heard a ton of good things from ex-Balmoral pilots and look forward to applying for a position in the future.

Just out of curiousity, how is marketing accomplished by Balmoral? I have heard that they don't advertise yet the company seems to florish from what I've been told.

Best wishes,

Greetings again Gunship!

My profile was outdated and thought I'd change it today. I used to instruct in Orlando for a while but am back in SA again, flying for a company out of Lanseria.
Thanks again for your replies. The info was worth a bunch.

Best wishes.

I used to fly for Balmoral in Angola a few years ago.

I great bunch of guys who do an excellent job in tough conditions.

It's also a great place to gain experience if you are are one of the guys with a comm/if and 200 hrs.

My only bad memory from Balmoral is that two of my friends, Hilton W. and Mike A. are no longer with us.
(No fault of Balmoral)
Great guys and I miss them alot.

To all the "Balmoral Drivers" out there, HAVE FUN

Lo Bru'tjie vannie Noorde.

Let us keep it in Ingels bru seeing that I am sure not too many bru's understand that seriously difficult language.... I can see you know it MUCH better than me !

To get back to the topic ... did not know but a good friend made use of Balmoral and had great results leasing his aircraft out via them. So something positive again !

Cheers,
