Here is one of our latest interviews with ex RAF ground crew member, David Butterfield. He gives a detailed insight into a line walk around with great detail.

Mike - just watched this.
Fascinating - what a big, brutal battleship of a jet.
Really intriguing to see the detail - makes you admire the designers and also realise how incredibly complex it is as a machine.
Very interesting about the Kapton, hot air, hydraulic fluid issue with the bay under the fin too... doesn't bear thinking about!
More of these videos please - we often see and hear from the pilots, but fail to appreciate the engineering.
Would love to see a Harrier walk around.

Really glad you enjoyed it, he gave some details I would never have known!
I will certainly be doing more interviews like this and I am sure we will be able to manage a Harrier walk around.

Hopefully I will be doing one with XV582 'Black Mike' once rebuilt at Brunty :)

I would also love to do a Jaguar walk around at Newark, so if anyone knows any Jag ground crew let me know. Cheers

Me and Nutty could do the Wessex for the discerning.
May lead to SHFNI stories coming to the fore.

Mike, I imagine the ground techs might be pretty thin on the ground now, or getting on in years, but a walk around the Frightening would be interesting.
Also the Vulcan.
And thoroughly endorse Rhino's `toom suggestion - another battleship-like heavy iron jet!
