New air ambulance helicopter grounded for checks at Sheffield helipad (http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/new-air-ambulance-helicopter-grounded-for-checks-at-sheffield-helipad-1-8116158)

A new £6 million helicopter has been grounded this morning for checks to be carried out.
The alarm was raised by a Yorkshire Air Ambulance pilot using the new helicopter, which took to the skies for the first time last weekend, when a warning light came on.

Helicopter manufacturer Airbus sent a mechanic to the helipad at the Northern General Hospital, where the helicopter landed earlier today.

New machine; new gearboxes. Possible chip light. Why not have it checked?
Hardly newsworthy I'd say...

It's obvious what's wrong - there's two blokes stuck in the main rotors.

"Possible chip light".
Given where they are looking in the photo it seems reasonable. I have had it before with brand new aircraft. The point was that it is hardly newsworthy...
For all of the delays due to maint/tech reasons i have experienced while sitting at the stand of an airport, i'd be willing to bet that none of those events made the news.

With a MGB Chip they would certainly not stand on top of the A/C, but be inside the cabin. The only way to get to that plug is via the roof panel right below the MGB.

Their position suggests MGB oil filler cap, swash plate, mixing unit, IBF...certainly no chip plugs whatsover can be found in that region of the helicopter.

Some overinterpretation going on here. Yes, we do know they are not fixing the search light but that's about it.
