View Full Version : Bifilar Dampers on 2 Bladed Rotor

First post here so here we go.

I am trying to come up with a method form dampening the 2/rev on an experimental Safari Helicopter. I have mounted accelerometers on the main shaft and determined that essentially all of the 2/rev vibrations are in the lateral direction at up to 2 ips.

One thought is a cyclocidal bifilar setup mounted on top of the rotor head. I have found all sorts of research on multi bladed rotor heads using this setup but nothing on 2 bladed teetering systems.

One of the many questions I have is the mounting. Would it be best to mount on top at 90 degrees to the main shaft or to mount it so that it teeters with the blades.

Any help on sizing and cycloidal holes and pins would be appreciated.

If anyone feels the need to flame me for the teetering rotor/experimental fire away I have a thick skin.:ugh:

Thanks in advance.
