Hey guys

I've just finished uni and am about to embark on a CPL/IR course. To be honest the airline stuff doesn't appeal. My mate just started and feels somewhat let down.

Any advice on how to get into bush flying. Obviously i'll need a right to work in canada at some stage and at least 50 hours float training.

So any help on how to go about training and or getting that elusive foot in the door for a british guy. would be most greatfully recieved.

Hello there,

I'm a bit out of the loop regarding avation in Canada and nothing to do with the bush but here's a start: http://www.tc.gc.ca/CivilAviation/menu.htm

Hope it helps somehow...

BTW, times are pretty tough here for pilots; you're welcome to try but if you can find work in the UK I wouldn't be in any great hurry to throw my hat in the Canadian ring ... :( :( :(

Hello,

Without a valid Canadian passport you can not work legally in Canada, just like a Canadian can not work in the UK without a valid British passport. Sad, but true. Also EU's licencing dept will not accept a Canadian licence unless we spend our life savings on a stupid lengthy bloodsucking EU conversion. The flying here is great though. If you can get in, there are plenty of jobs in the bush for the aspiring and willing. This country is great. #3 in the world to live. I'm having the time of my life here.

I suggest you take a vacation here and just claim refugee status. A small 2 hour interview with immigration and you are set. Health card and a few dollars to boot to get you on your way, thanks to our friendly liberal Gvmt.

Good luck

boeang747, what you said is not true. A valid Canadian passport is by no means a requirement for employment here. What you do need though is to be legally entitled to work here, meaning you have either a work visa, or be a permanent resident. Or of course a citizen of Canada. Getting a work visa or residency in Canada should not be too difficult, I imagine.
