Any A320 pilot must have noticed the scuff marks at the back of his shoes just above the heel. If you feel along the side of the floor mounted central footrest towards the rear, there are two sharp edged bolt heads which pulverise any leather which comes into contact with them.

Either Airbus come out with a modification or I'm going to have to take my work shoes into a cobbler to have an extra layer of leather sewn on.:*

Errrr, in a word; No.

Been flying A320/321/330 for 11 years, and no damage to shoes has ever occurred.

floor mounted central footrest towards the rearIs that what Airbus call the rudder pedals? They have a special name for everything! :O Next you'll tell me you don't need to use them in normal flight and some magical ELAC co-ordinates the turns!

Just lean the seat back and fly it with your feet up on the dropdown dash mounted footrests. All the cool kids fly like that.

One of my colleagues cut his hand somewhat nastily on an extruding screw on a side wall below the stick. Later, sticky aluminium tape was applied to all the srews with sharp edges around and the whole place looked like a radar decoy! Little buggers everywhere.

Of course, the above not being a maintenance approved / authorized procedure, this was never in the TechLog. Neither is this post? :O

I thought it was just me.

My shoes cop the same damage.

FD. Exact same injury sustained by me a few years back.
Lol @ First World problems (and the fairies that mention them)

I have since checked and I see the two hex bolt heads each side of the central footrest referred to.

Unless someone has replaced the bolts of the OP's aircraft with ones that stick out much more, I cannot get my shoes into a position where the heels would even touch the bolt heads.

Mind you, I wear DM's* which have a sole that is slightly wider than the heel so maybe that prevents damage.

Wow. Where did you get those from Captain Bloggs?!

And there was I, making assumptions about your gender, or maybe your height? :)

Reminds me about the old chestnut interview question: "What would you do if you saw your Captain in the bar wearing a dress?"

Answer: Offer to buy her a drink.:ok:
