Has he done a deal with the prosecuting authority to deflect possibly more serious charges of sedition or treasonous activity with an enemy?

Straight up Plea of Guilty to both charges.....Desertion and Misconduct before the Enemy. No plea deal.

I recently came across an interesting podcast series on the Bergdahl case, and a lot of the background, interviews with Sgt Berghdahl, his platoon, the taliban etc

Be honest, if Obama had left him with the Taliban you'd be complaining now that he had abandoned a US serviceman in Afghanistan. Whatever he did, you'd find a reason to attack him.

Once again I find myself asking, 'What has this got to do with Military Aviation?'.

Melm.....in this case the facts speak for themselves.

You are welcome to your opinion....but not your own facts.

Did Bergdahl serve with honor and distinction?

Was it a "great day" for America when Bergdahl came home?

I think not.

Had the facts been published about the circumstances of Bergdahl's being seized by the Taliban.....the public sentiment would have been very much different than it was at the time.

Knowing other Soldiers, Marines, and Sailors were wounded or killed because of this guy's actions....and the Obama Administration's comments combined with the White House spectacle....is beneath mere contempt.

Be honest, if Obama had left him with the Taliban you'd be complaining now that he had abandoned a US serviceman in Afghanistan. Whatever he did, you'd find a reason to attack him.Hmmm.

It seems to me that there is a vast difference between getting a captured US deserter back (one directly responsible for the deaths of six US servicemen), and singing the praises of that deserter.

Which leads to the follow up question: Why did you miss (or willfully ignore) that very obvious vast difference? Hmmmm?

Hmmm, I don't know, KenV.

Perhaps the full facts of Bergdahl's case weren't known in the immediate aftermath of his release?

Perhaps the facts were known and the president was trying to put something of a positive spin on what was otherwise a sour story for the US military (we all know how the US public likes to hero-worship its military)?

Perhaps it was none of the above, and some other reason was in play?

What's the reason you're driving at, KenV? Hmmm, indeed.

Brian48nav makes a fair point, as I thought the same once I'd read the first 3 posts. Thanks to all for such contributions as were made, but we are done here. It's smelling a bit like JB, except for the references to Webers.
