Hi,

Anyone having any joy downloading the new version of iCrew on the iPhone?
Have tried via the new Springs app as per the email but only seems to be the Cabin Crew version.
Have also tried via the portal but that version doesn't download properly.

Thanks

I was having difficulty loading the app so I called the creator personally. He lead me through the process and explained the reason why the pilot iCrew isn't available on the Spring site is due to a Flt Ops request.
The bit about "your password will be sent to you securely"? Just carry on and re-enter your network password as many times as required.
Check the background from time to time to see if it is loading. Once it starts, it should work.

Flt Ops seems to have something to hide here!

Work around as described works fine!

Still hard to understand why you'd want any of their IT crap on your personal phone. White Knight may be able to elaborate on it - all over again.
Shades of the Blackberry trojan affair. It helps them own you "more completely". Personal and Work lives - best separated completely.

JAA Rule:
absolutely right!
with those apps they spy on everything on your phone including passwords for social media.

New training app apparently has ability to track us. Urban myth?

This app can also access your microfone and you wouldn't recognise it.

Talparc, if you go back about a year and look up a few changes to the employee handbook, you'll see some references to authorizing the company to view all your apps, etc. when you agree to put their app on your phone. I have stayed away ever since. Nothing to hide, but hate to have someone snooping up my backdoor!

An app can't just read information from another app. To steal passwords for social media logon the app would have to sniff the network traffic, which normally requires root access. Also all established social media also utilizes encrypted data for the logon so even if the traffic is captured, your password is safe.

In later versions of Android you can control the permissions you grant to individual apps. I have blocked all special permissions asked by EK apps and they run fine anyway. True, there is some reason for concern, why for example does the HR Direct app require permission to see what other apps are running on your device...?

But for most cases, tin-foil hat off...

I removed the programmes from my phone. For such a simple app, I can't see why the training department app brings up a warning on the phone that it is "running heavy tasks", even with all other functions or apps closed down. It chewed up battery power very quickly if left on, and frankly I was only using it for checking which classroom or sim I was supposed to be in, so it wasn't worth the battery consumption for me. As for the EPC card discount data app, it didn't work in a way appropriate for me, so I didn't really use it.
