Yes looks like it diverted to Jeddah, an Emirates 777 (A6-ECX / Boeing 777-31H(ER) ) is on ground there now...

Can we send this to spotters' corner?

Why are folks being so rude to the original poster? Something non-usual happened down at the factory and I for one was interested to find this information. It's always informative to see what unfolds after a diversion and can be a learning point for a great many of us.

As with most of the internet, if it's not interesting for you just don't click on it.

Thanks OP for the relevant information.

It's like most of the people on the Middle East section, complaining over everything and are the complete opposite of a nice person.

Complaining is so much more fun! Keep in mind that positive stuff is not fun. No one wants to read positive stuff!

Spotter alert. Aerosexuals in anoraks with airband radios. Sorry guys but you won't find anyone on this forum who is remotely interested in following yet another everyday occurance. As someone already said, it belongs in spotters corner.

vfenext : I do understand where you are coming from, but this isn't weather diversion, pax disruption, refile-flight plan diversion... of the more common occurrence, there was talk of an engine problem with initial return to DXB with a later further problem with a change to divert to Jeddah. Yes it's purely rumor I know but this is a news and rumor network. I do like watching airplanes, but I'm not a full time spotter with an anorak and radio. Having worked at EK in the past and still flying the 777, I am curious. I'll ask a friend and wait for the ASR to come out then.

A u-turn over the Sudan and a diversion to JED with 00s of infidels in mini-skirts carrying 00s of litres of alcohol is not an everyday occurrence.

I hope the crew are managing OK.

"I hope the crew are managing OK."

Well they should be, there's an awful lot of 777 pilots on that flight. Fair point about carting all that grog into saudi though, locals ain't going to be too happy about that one.
