Local news outlets at this stage all reflect what's in the link the OP provided - aircraft and crew taking part in an joint police/medical team exercise up in the mountains, reason for accident not yet known, 4 killed, recovery work ongoing. Before anyone asks for a METAR we're about 50 km away from where this happened and it's overall CAVOK with little wind and no obvious weather problems visible in the mountains themselves (but before anyone mentions it yes, obviously lots of local weather effects possible in the mountains themselves)

<<On en sait un peu plus sur les circonstances de l’accident d’hélicoptère qui a coûté la vie à deux gendarmes, un mécanicien et un pilote ce midi. L’hélicoptère du peloton de gendarmerie a décollé de Pierrefitte en fin de matinée. Objectif de la mission : installer des équipements de secours en prévision de la saison d’été, dans le secteur du lac de Gaube, à 3000 mètres d’altitude.
Arrivé sur zone, l’hélicoptère a déposé plusieurs gendarmes au sol et des médecins de Samu qui participaient à la mission. Alors qu’il redécollait avec quatre personnes à son bord, l’appareil aurait heurté une paroi du couloir de Gaube. Il s’est écrasé, ne laissant aucun survivant à l’intérieur de l’appareil>>.
