View Full Version : Smoke Detection in modern aircraft

Hi all,

After a bit of studying there appears to be a number of different smoke detector systems that seem to be fit for use in various locations around the aircraft. However, it seems that the likes of photoelectric sensors tend to produce more false alarms in comparison to ionization detectors.

What's the most likely detector to be used on aircraft today, is it ionization or perhaps a mix of both such as multi-sensor detectors? If it is the latter, what could be used within a multi-sensor system?

Thanks in advance!
