Hi I have a piper Aztec e and would like some information on flying in cold temps, my engines already run fairly low like 250ish during and during the start of the cold temps -8 days im running around 225 in cruse with the bottom of the green being 200 should I be looking for winter engine fronts for even colder operating conditions? has any one operated a Aztec with winter fronts if so where you get them?

Flew the Aztec up in Yukon/NWT years ago and a cold weather kit is a worthwhile mod.
We used to get the kits from Standard Aero in YXD. If you're in the Thunderbay area, check with some of the guys around there, someone might have a set lying around that you could get for a cheap price. Usually its just a blanking plate at the forward cowl inlet reducing the flow around the front cylinder set.

To keep the engines warm during the shutdown, we used to throw an electric car heater inside the cowl then put the covers on the engines. Nice and toasty warm for a good start!
