In supplementary teq it says, use APU only for engine start then in the ENGINE START: it says : use external pneumatic for start , A little confusing

Hi Flyman,

I believe you are talking about the supplementary procedure "Ground operations on airports covered with ash, sand or dust". If that is the case, the procedure mentions to "use the APU only to start the engines, and then only if ground power is not available, particularly in case of volcanic ash". I do agree that the syntax is not at the highest level in this note, but basically what it does mean is that you do not want to use the APU to avoid any ingestion of ash, sand or dust in the bleed duct and therefore you should request ground power equipment and an air starter.

Rgds
