1960s V Bomber ID Holder - Help needed

Just trying to enlist the help of any 60's era V force aircrew in tracking down an example of the leather pass holder that attached to the jacket pocket button, an example shown below. Happy to either purchase or if detailed (redacted if necessary) photos and measurements could be provided I would be most grateful Inc thickness of leather. In this instance Google was not my friend.

Never saw one of those. Wouldn't have worked anyway - my jacket had zips, not buttons!!

That is different from station ones. Our' s in 1 Gp, can't remember 3 Gp were black leather and the top was triangular. There were only 4 areas IIRC, A,O,E,X. Non cleared areas were blacked out rectangles. I seem to remember navs in the early 60s had the X, not sure of the other crew members. We certainly had A and O and I thought we had E as we frequently went to the gin palace.

Those of us that had zuit suits had a button under the lapel and we fastened tag with that.

Each station, had the same design but a different colour.

I have an idea that the picture is a Bomber Command one.

The tag shown is the later version when clips and lamination was available to units. Prior to that we had the leather case. IIRC, once the RAFP got the laminator they did the odd 1250 repair too.

I noticed this V-Force ID on the 'Delta 8-3' film the other day ... Early 60's Waddington ... worn on the left breast under aircrew brevet :8

Well done Coff, that is the earlier leather holder.

PS, the Waddington Mk 1 crews did not get the free zuit suits, another bone of contention. I think they were limited issue to PR 9, Lightning and Mk 2 crews.

TBT, all V-Stations. Remember visiting a Victor in the shed at Wittering, challenged as our passes were the wrong colour but allowed in as we had the right letters.

Top Bunk Tester ... can only reinforce what others said re the later laminated luggage labels. Waddington was indeed pink, as PN showed via the link he posted [I was there 81-83]. However, we were told that if photographs were being taken, the tag was to be concealed [usually by just sliding it under the epaulette] ... this would prevent the Russians from making copies, I assume :D

Thread drift.

The 60s security tag was the precursor to everyman and his dog, from street workers, chuggers, et al all wearing ID. I think however they were better than the modern fashion of wearing you ID card jewellery.

Everyone on the station had one both they were clearly zoned. Less obviously you also had to fit the part from haircut to footwear. You couldn't just swipe a card James Bond style.

During one exercise a newly posted sqn ldr in full uniform was challenged 3 or more times on the first morning as he clearly didn't belong.

Also the Captain of each QRA crew had an extra tag as well as the gobag box keys on a chain. I know on one alert my skipper, in his haste to get dressed, accidentally threw chain, keys and tag into the corner of the room with his PJ top and we went without them.
