Another one of their "historic" announcements. Had to many of them while I was there, not so much history made by this guys. Maybe closing down would be a "historic" act :E

That announcement would be better made at CYUL or CYMX.

I agree on the basing being a possibility but why does the announcement need to be done on Dec 9th and in NYC anything special happening on that day???

It's simply that they are going to put the 380 on JFK.
They like to make much about nothing.

Any suggestions from this list w.r.t the date: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_9 ?

That combover is really working for Al Baker. Of course he is in competition with a jedi master in the art in that photo so you can't see it as well.

At least two of them are proof that a good barbershop is hard to find in the middle east. :)

Great job making the passengers the number one priority. The guy in charge brings the new A350 into JFK yesterday for the historic announcement. Meanwhile the fare paying passengers on the daily B773 wait 45 minutes for the gate while the vip's disembark. :ugh::ugh:

So... the historic announcement was a new advertising campaign?

wanabee777

It appears so.

Is it just me or does the add seem like an imitation of EK's globalista concept. There does not seem to be any originality coming out of these airlines.

Or was it the unveiling of the new 'auto-abort' takeoff feature?

'Please switch off the camera': Qatar Airways' dramatic auto-brake aborted takeoff at JFK (http://www.theage.com.au/business/aviation/please-switch-off-the-camera-qatar-airways-dramatic-autobrake-aborted-takeoff-at-jfk-20151211-gllm1d.html)

Wow I came in my pants for that, sorry Star Wars ya came 2nd and New Testament 3rd. Geez what’s next, EK going to give out blow up dolls or have a Morocco woman in 1st class?

Just to clearify for everyone, despite what the little idiot said in the
media lately, runway overruns that damage aircraft DO NOT happen
quite often at QR or any airline for that matter.

That level of repeated incompetence is saved strictly for the highest
office in the company.

Every time I fly on the EK EY QR there are no hot young models sitting in F or J sipping champs like these stupid ads portray! Far from it!

You can make fun of him, but his statements should keep the pilots in the clear. Both this incident and the Miami one.
Insult him enough, and who knows what will happen.

Not only in his company. There was that recent and famous response by the flight safety team of a company a bit further south, when a skipper raised concern about flying over the Sinai region. He said that it's nice to be reminded to fly above FL 250, but what about maintaining this when you have a engine failure with a heavy twin?
The response was: What are the chances that you lose an engine right over that region!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Why on earth do we even bother making TO calculations, because what are the chances we lose a donkey on TO roll??? :E:E:E:E:E

The ME aviation sometimes reminds me of a bad reality show. The protagonists are as stupid as s#!t, but the still seem to make a lot of money ..... :ugh:

Xiamen your comment is obtuse.

The pilots of the Miami accident are not in the clear,
in fact their termination is basically assured when the investigation is done.

The media comments were not made for the pilots benefit, they were
a pathetic attempt to comment for the benefit of company image.
