I remember, in the distant past, there was a painting commissioned that depicted the F3 in it's natural environment, intercepting low level Soviet cruise missile bombers far, far out to sea in the worse of weather..

The painting was quite dramatic, but the details are, as they say, lost in the mists of time.

Does anybody have any information that they could share.

No Leon, this painting depicted a beam 9l attack against a high speed crossing target with the Fin turning hard at ULL under a dark dark sky over the sea. As I said, the aircraft exactly in the environment it was designed for.
A very emotive painting.

Your description rings a bell with me but unfortunately I cannot help with the detail.

I assume you have tried searching all the usual aviation artists websites (Wong, Golds, Turner, Rondot etc)?

You could try asking here (http://www.gava.org.uk/).

Glad rag:
the aircraft exactly in the environment it was designed for.....interesting word: 'designed'.

So, you mean someone designed it?
